Hey, I am Willi, a skiing biophysicist from Munich. I'm working on AI powered adaptive imaging approaches at EPFL in Lausanne in the Laboratory of Experimental Biophysics. We develop responsive microscopes to study rare biological events that have so far been elusive. Using neural networks to detect such events the microscopes automatically trigger appropriate imaging sequences and reveal events such as mitochondrial divisions with unprecedented fidelity.
I did my PhD research in the physics department of the Technical University of Munich. There, I have been working on the stepping mechanism of kinesin-2 molecular motors. In order to study these machines with excellent accuracy, I built a custom microscope that is optimized for super-resolution FIONA experiments.
On this webpage I would like to introduce myself and some of my interests closer. So, I hope you take some time to take a look around and don't hesitate to contact me via one of the channels listed below.
